Reston Sprint Triathlon
The annual Reston Sprint Triathlon takes place on the first Sunday in June. It begins with a 400-meter swim in Lake Newport pool, followed by a 12-mile bike ride on Reston roads, and ends with a 5K run on area paths. Afterward, celebrate your success and share stories with friends and family in the post-race beer garden. Includes Aquathon & Sprint Relay.
Reston Youth Triathlon
Challenge yourself to complete a triathlon, where every stroke, pedal, and stride brings you closer to triumph. Our race celebrates not just seasoned athletes but every participant’s personal victory—experience the thrill of accomplishment as you cross that finish line, surrounded by cheering family, friends, and the entire Racing in Reston community.
Reston Olympic Triathlon
Since 1984, the Reston Triathlon has been a staple in our community. It begins with a 1500-meter open water swim in Lake Audubon, followed by a 25-mile bike ride and a 10K run on local paths. The Olympic distance event has challenged athletes from around the country and has affectionately been called the Reston Triathlon World Championship. Includes Aquathon & Sprint Relay.

No. To prevent race-day delays, there is no packet pickup on race morning. You must bring a photo ID, and per USAT rules, adult athletes must collect their own packets in person.
Wetsuit usage follows USA Triathlon (USAT) official temperature guidelines.
Wetsuits are legal if the water is 78.0°F or lower.
Between 78.1°F and 83.9°F, you may wear a wetsuit but will be ineligible for awards.
The official temperature is verified by a USAT official roughly 60–90 minutes before the first wave. Check the Athlete Guide for real-time updates on race week.
Racing in Reston is a community-driven series powered by the CORE Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Because 100% of proceeds support local community programs, we maintain a strict no-refund and no-deferral policy. However, bib transfers to other athletes are typically permitted until the Tuesday before race weekend.
Yes. All events are USAT-sanctioned. Athletes must provide a valid annual USAT membership number or purchase a one-day membership during the online registration process. This ensures all participants are covered by comprehensive event insurance.
